OMODA Fuel Fund Winner | The Power of Showing Up and Saying Yes
Last week, I was announced as the winner of the Jules Robinson and OMODA Fuel Fund, and I am still taking it all in.
When I first saw the competition, I almost did not enter. Life was busy, the timing did not feel perfect, and self doubt crept in. I questioned whether I should wait for a “better” moment. But instead of waiting, I chose to say yes. Yes to backing my idea. Yes to putting myself forward. Yes to trusting that it was worth trying.
That decision reflects the mindset I carry into my work every day.
In speech pathology, “no” is never the final answer. If one strategy does not work, we adjust. If progress feels slow, we reassess and keep moving. Supporting children with additional needs requires flexibility, patience and belief that growth is possible, even when it takes time.
What This Means for Families
Winning this grant allows me to create practical, strategy based resources that families can use at home. Real support that fits into busy lives and complements therapy, rather than adding another appointment to the calendar.
It is about equipping parents with clear, achievable tools they can confidently use day to day. Because the most powerful progress often happens in the small, consistent moments at home.
Thank you to everyone who voted and supported this vision. This win is a reminder that sometimes the biggest shift begins with one simple choice to show up and say yes.
